Sean McGarvy has been named to the new role of senior director of digital news and content strategy for The E.W. Scripps Company.
McGarvy will develop and execute the strategic vision for news content across all Scripps News Group digital platforms, including Scripps News and Scripps’ local stations.
“Sean is a trusted news leader who understands our newsrooms and our vision to deliver exceptional journalism on every platform,” said Dean Littleton, Scripps’ executive vice president of media broadcast operations. “This new role recognizes the critical importance of digital and streaming to meet a growing number of consumers where they are. Sean has the experience, passion and vision to lead a cohesive, consumer-centric approach to our digital news strategy.”
He’s been the Scripps’ senior director of local news strategy since April 2020. He also partners with Scripps News, connecting Scripps’ 60+ local stations with a national footprint.
Before joining Scripps, McGarvy was the news director at Scripps’ Cleveland ABC affiliate WEWS and the assistant news director at KMGH, Scripps’ ABC affiliate in Denver.
