Sesame Workshop is making cuts to its staff, the nonprofit organization confirmed on Wednesday. However, the number of employees affected wasn’t disclosed.
The news comes as the group’s flagship show, Sesame Street, continues its search for a new TV or streaming home after Warner Bros. Discovery declined to renew its output deal for new episodes last year. That followed a change in overall strategy for HBO and Max to focus on adult programming. Current episodes of Sesame Street will air through 2027 to honor the 10-year deal between both parties.
The news also comes a day after more than 200 employees called for Sesame Workshop to recognize that they wanted to form a union.
