Former KTBS news director and anchor Bill Lunn is suing the local NBC station KTAL after he said it failed to “vet, edit or confirm allegations that labeled him a child predator.”
Lunn quit the Shreveport, Louisiana ABC affiliate last June after it was reported that he was being investigated by the Shreveport Police Department after allegedly arranging a meeting with a teenage girl for sex.
The investigation into Lunn was started by three locals who say their mission is to catch men trying to have sex with underage girls. “What we do is like we catch child predators,” one of the men told KTAL.
The three say they posed as a teenage girl online and set up a meeting with Lunn.Police say three men at the house reportedly lured Lunn to the location through a dating app.
Shreveport cops said the men accused Lunn of sending inappropriate text messages and pictures to an underage girl. But the investigation later revealed Lunn thought he was talking to 19-year-old woman and had no criminal intent.
The two of the three men involved were later arrested as part of a series of crimes where they allegedly lured, beat, and robbed men.
In the lawsuit, Lunn said the claims against him were never verified or checked, and that KTAL has still not corrected the story, despite having information.
Nexstar Media Group along with KTAL married anchors Dan and Jacque Jovic are named as defendants in the lawsuit. Lunn is suing for unspecified damages.
